Surround Sound System Hook-Up

This could really help someone out, who is trying to figure out how to hook up their new surround sound system. So I am posting it here on my blog, so someone might be able to find it when searching the net, and it might help them.

The Audiovox Surround Sound System that we have only has 1 a/v-in plug hole, and we wanted to hook up the tv, cable box, playstation2, and vcr to the surround sound sytem.

Also, the Surround Sound System has a built-in dvd player, so it needs to able to be viewable on the tv.

We had to buy an A/V Selector Switchbox to solve these problems. This device lets you switch between four audio/component video-enabled devices

Here is how we hooked it all up:

· cable from wall goes to cable box
· cable comes out from cable box and into tv
· cable box has a/v cables going to input 1 in selector switchbox
· ps2 has a/v cables going to input 2 in selector switchbox
· vcr has a/v cables going to input 3 in selector switchbox
· surround sound/dvd player has video cable going to input 4 in selector switchbox
· video cable comes from selector switchbox output and goes into tv
· audio cables come from selector switchbox output and go into surround sound system
